Do You Know Your Bible?

That statistic is staggering, isn’t it? In 2019, 31% of adults in the United States claimed to have never read the Bible, not even once! What does that say about our country? It tells us that there are many out there who do not know much of the Bible. It means over a quarter of the country never made time or effort to open the word of God and study the contents of it. How many times do you read your Bible? How consistent are you?

You know the Bible mentions in many places how Important the word of God truly is. Paul wrote to Timothy in his second letter: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

In Paul's first letter to Timothy: 1 Timothy 4:13-16 - Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Paul to the Romans: Romans 15:4 - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

And finally, Peter writes: 1 Peter 2:2-3 - As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

It is vital to understand that we cannot claim the name "Christian", but have little to no knowledge of God's word. How can you claim to be a soldier of Christ, but yet you have no desire to be one? How can you say your relationship with God is unbreakable, but you've never once opened the Scriptures? My goal for this blog is to help us all learn more and understand the Bible. In this day in time, evil is all around and it never seems to end. Many are without the Bible, and their lives contain endless hopelessness. My goal is to help you see that there's hope in salvation through Jesus Christ. My future posts will only be a 10 to 20 minute read. Please subscribe to be notified immediately when a study is posted. Our first study will be posted on February 3rd at 6:00 am. Do you have time for 15 minutes in your day to study? Do you know your Bible?
